My name is Karthika, and I live in Vaniputhur village near Gopi Chattipalayam, Erode. I am 37 years old.
There is something important about me —
I am a woman who cannot speak.
Because of this condition, life has always been more difficult for me.
After my husband passed away, the entire responsibility for my family fell on my shoulders. I have two children — a son and a daughter — both studying in college. To take care of them, I worked as a daily-wage labourer.
But since I cannot speak,
I had no opportunities.
I could not start any small business on my own.
I couldn’t even ask anyone for support.
I silently carried all the struggles within me.
During this challenging time, Vidiyal Society came into my life.
They visited our village and were supporting women with government schemes health insurance cards, ration card support, and many essential needs. My mother explained my situation to Vidiyal Society’s Director, Makeswari Madam.
The team came to meet me, understood my difficulties, and decided to help me move forward in life.
Vidiyal Society provided me with a small flower shop giving me a stable way to earn an income.
This shop is not just a business for me…
It is hope for my family.
It is my strength, my confidence, and my independence.
Today, I am able to take care of my children’s education without depending on anyone.
I dream of growing this small petty shop into a bigger shop one day.
I sincerely thank Vidiyal Society for giving me a new beginning and for standing beside women like me.
Thank you, Vidiyal Society.
