About Us

Vidiyal Society Sathyamangalam

We aim to advance social justice & inclusion by empowering marginalized communities, including children, women, handicapped, widowed women, etc., to foster an equitable & compassionate society.

VIDIYAL SOCIETY SATHYAMANGALAM is a registered non-profit organization in Sathyamangalam, Erode District, Tamil Nadu. Dedicated members, women leaders of the Dalit Arunthathiyar and tribal communities, started the organization in 2014.The organization functions with two-thirds of women as general body members, comprising the majority of the general body members. The organization is run by Mrs. Maheswari, an Arunthathiyar woman leader who has fully dedicated herself to the welfare of the grassroots community and working women of Arunthathiyars and tribal communities for over 25 years in the development field. Due to her family situation at a young age, she joined a mill where she experienced various forms of violence and caste discrimination, left the job, joined a voluntary organization, and was later expelled by the NGO. In this situation, she focused on the strong vision “POWER TO POWERLESS” and started an organization (VIDIYAL) for women’s empowerment, focusing on the objectives of stopping the sexual torture experienced by her fellow women who worked with her at a mill, getting justice for the victims, and providing safety to the working women in the working atmosphere. The organization is working for social, educational, economic development, and leadership for dalit and tribal women, widows, single women, deserted women, aged persons, disabled persons, youth, and children of the most marginalized in the rural and urban communities in ERODE District, Tamil Nadu.
